20th C. Composition Dolls
Composition dolls began to hit the doll market as early as the late 19th century. The material seemed more durable than bisque or china and was certainly not as a heavy. Composition dolls are made from a composite materials. Composition went out of vogue when plastics took over the market.
The dolls in this gallery show dolls made from the 1920s-1940s. They are all made of composition and have natural wigs.

The dolls in this section are some of the compositions dolls that have come through the studio. We are particular fond othese dolls. But, due to their makeup, restoration takes longer. Water and moisture hit these dolls hard. Think of the classic horror doll with cracks in its face and a missing finger. That is a composition doll. We will be filling this gallery with more examples as we go.
